All the cool kids on Twitter and the bloggers I follow seem to be doing NaBloPoMo this month, and since I had somehow already scheduled posts for November 1 and 3 (what? I know, right?!), I am thinking I might just take the plunge and do this too!
What the heck is NaBloPoMo?
An abbreviation for National Blog Posting Month. It’s a challenge where you agree to do a blog post every single day for the entire month of November. BlogHer hosts a page with writing prompts to get you started.
How is this different from NaNoWriMo?
NaNoWriMo is National Novel Writing Month. Let me take this opportunity to tell you that I am not now, nor have I ever, entertained the idea of writing a novel. I can tell you with 100% certainty that there is no story inside my brain yearning to get out. The running commentary inside my head is definitely satirical nonfiction memoir which disappears as soon as it drifts across my cerebral cortex.
You’re going to write a long essay on every single writing prompt?
Here’s the deal. You guys know what my life is like with the 2 kids, no sleep, and now we are buying a house so as soon as we close on the house, I’ll be packing to move right around Thanksgiving.
Let me tell you what I am planning on doing:
Yes, I will post every day.
I might end up writing only a paragraph some days.
It might not be that interesting.
I will probably read the writing prompts. Sometimes.
What I post might not have anything to do with the writing prompts.
I might answer a writing prompt from some other day entirely.
So, if we are all clear on what is going to happen, consider yourself warned!
I’m starting out with 108 RSS subscribers. Let’s see how many of you can hang in there!!
I’m thinking I might want to participate, too!! I’ve seen that weird looking acronym-ish name around twitter. Thanks for explaining. 🙂 And, you’re buying a house? Is said house far from your current house?
Yay that would be fun if you do! Yep, new place is literally exactly 3 streets north of where we are now 🙂 So not far to go at all! Very excited!
