I had every intention of attending the Mama’s Write playdate this morning but a series of baby- and weather- and traffic-related delays would have caused me to be almost a full hour late after driving an hour each way, and then I would have been able to stay only about 30-45 minutes before turning around and driving back. Instead, here I am catching up on some blogging and financial online tasks. I think it was a good choice for me and for our family, but I am sad to miss you ladies!
Some friends of ours are selling their house, and it is truly perfect for us. I love it so much. It even has the tankless water heater and radiant barrier that I mentioned we would install if we built our own house. Unfortunately, we were not planning on buying a house at this time, so it kind of sucks that we know about it but it might really not be even an option right now. What we might need to do is just hang in here at this house for another year until we are in a better place financially. If we do decide that is the best course, I am considering following in the footsteps of Jill of Baby Rabies and doing a series of Love the {Home} You’re With-type posts. I actually hate this house, but it would be challenging to work on moving some things around so that we could continue to fit 2 kids into this place for another year.
I have a hair appointment in 2 weeks. It falls right about the post-pregnancy time that caused me to cut off all my hair after having Little Sir. I am not forgetting what a terrible idea that was, and I am not going to do that again. However, I made the appointment to get color, and I am thinking of doing something kind of funky. I don’t have to to a “real” job right now so I could do something weirder than usual. I am thinking platinum and reddish highlights/lowlights.
Maybe like this but not pink – strawberry blonde instead of pink? |
What do you think? Does anyone have any good photos or recommendations for where I might find pics I could take to the salon?
Ever since becoming aware of the Natural Parenting movement online, I have been hearing nonstop about the benefits of chiropractic adjustment for infants and babies and children. I’ve never done chiropractic myself, but after hearing about the success Gina The Feminist Breeder had with chiropractic adjustments on her daughter for colic-type symptoms, I started to wonder if this might help Little Lady with her weird back. When she was born, she had her hand over her mouth so that her neck was a little stressed during birth. She does this weird thing where she arches her back backwards, turning her spine into a curve like a banana, I call it “banana back”. She does it while she is lying down or sitting also, arching so far off the chair or surface that she can roll right over. So we have a chiropractic appointment for her a week from today. I am excited about it!
From those who have done it before, I have learned that it is not as scary as it might sound – the adjustments on babies is nothing related to cracking or bending. It’s more like very light massage. If the baby is asleep when it is done, it won’t even wake them – that’s how gentle it is. The chiropractor even assured me of this when I made the appointment. I’ll let you know how it goes!
I am reading Eat, Pray, Love and enjoying it more than I thought I would. I refused to read it or see the movie for quite a long time but then my BFF saw it and read it. I should probably do a post about it when I finish, and then see the movie.
Did I mention that I also read Bossypants by Tina Fey? It was the most hilarious and great book I have read in a while. I loved it. I highly recommend it.
read this book immediately |
We finally bought a DVD player after being without one for about a year. We’ve just been watching Netflix using the Wii. Which has worked great, but we couldn’t watch any of our Pixar movies without a DVD player unless we hooked up the laptop to the TV, which is way above my technical ability. I also have Mothers Into Fitness Abs DVDs that I was previously unable to use. Now that we have a DVD player, I have no excuse. Except that I have found plenty of excuses lately. (I have to blog! I have to do laundry! I get about 3-4 hours of sleep a night!) I still have not done a single one, and my abs are all flabby and pregnancy-poochy. I would do a post about this but I am afraid it would hold me accountable to actually do something.

Well that’s all for this week, be sure to visit Conversion Diary for links to more 7 Quick Takes Fridays.
I had both boys adjusted by a chiropractor when August was a newborn. I was getting worked on myself from some postpartum pain I was having and figured it was worth a shot to help August’s reflux drama. I couldn’t afford to keep going back, but I wanted to encourage you that it wasn’t that scary to have them work on the little ones.
P.S. I can’t stop staring at the weird arms on Tina Fey’s book cover 🙂
I was planning on going to the playdate too until I found out last night my husband needed the car. I even live in Irving!
I love the hair. I think it would look great with red and blond. I’ve always wanted to do something like that to my hair.
